3D Modeling: Create a Grail

What is this course about?

In this course we’re going to learn how to model a grail in a way that’s far from the traditional way of doing so. We’re going to start with the base on Cinema 4D, and later we’ll export our model into ZBrush. We’ll learn how to model an object without the use of primitives, using Splines and other options the program gives us. In ZBrush we’re going to learn how to model in alternative way than what we normally would with the program, thanks to Z-Modeler.

What project are going to work on?

We’re going to work on the model of a grail, with all the decoration and details. We’ll learn to model from a spline instead of using primitives and in ZBrush, we’ll see how to make a model in the ZModeler module. We’re also going to learn concepts and uses of polygroups or the extract function.

What do we need for this course?

We just need Cinema 4D and ZBrush.

Didac Soto is a 3D and multimedia designer based in Barcelona, where he studied illustration, animation and graphic design. He then went on to study a masters in 3D animation at the University of Salamanca. Specialized in 3D modeling and with 5 years experience in the industry, he has worked for various marketing and advertising agencies in Barcelona. As a freelance designer, he has worked and collaborated with clients all over the world, creating 3D models for indie video games in Mexico, the United States or the UK.
