About this course
In this course, we’ll learn about character design, focusing on a very interesting and popular topic: superheroes! As we do with any project like this, we’ll begin by looking at some references. Then, we’ll get to know what are the common elements present in the anatomy of a superhero. This will give us what we need to start working on our own character, from the sketch to the final colored version.
What project are we going to develop?
We’re going to create our own superhero character concept! But not only are we going to do that, we’re also going to do a reference sheet, which is the final step prior to giving life to our character in 3D or in animation. Of course, we’ll begin by surfing the internet and looking at some references of pre-existing superheroes. We’ll make a study of the anatomy and the common elements that most of the superheroes share. A muscular body? A cape? You’ll see! Then, we’ll begin with the sketching process of some characters, followed by a further development of one of them. Finally, we’ll do the coloring and we’ll even design an emblem for this character, based on his or her name and superpowers. I’ll be working on my own superheroine concept during the lessons, so you’ll be able to see how this process comes to fruition!
