Illustration: Design a Cute Character

Flat style is really cool, but don’t you sometimes feel you could add a bit more? Well this is a good place to start!

About this course

Do you ever wonder how artists create clean looking characters that have a lot of texture? Well on this course I'll show you the workflow I follow when I work on an illustration like this. We'll be using both Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop and I'll show you how these two work great together to create more interesting characters.

We'll begin on Illustrator using basic shapes to create a monster. These are shapes and techniques that you could use to create a whole family of monsters. Then we'll go to Photoshop where you'll see how to use already built in brushes to give more depth and detail to any character.

What project are we going to develop?

On this course we'll build an illustration of a monster with basic shapes on Adobe Illustrator to then export it to Adobe Photoshop and add more detail. But the most important thing here would be that you'll be able to apply this workflow to any illustration you create in the future.

At the end of each lesson you'll understand the process of how to use basic shapes to create a more complex character as well as all the techniques involved to export and add detail on Adobe Photoshop.

Who’s this course for? Requirements

For this course it's advised that you have a basic understanding of both programs: Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.

We're going to be using Illustrator CC but if you use a previous version there shouldn't be any problems, while the layout and options may change a little, the changes are minimal.
