Illustration: Draw a Japanese Design
Are you crazy about Oriental culture? Do you dream of living in Japan? Travel with us and join this new Tutpad adventure, where we’ll discover the inmost essence of Japanese illustration. If you’re passionate about Japan, don’t hesitate and embark on this journey. What do you say? Do want to you join us?
In this course, you’ll learn to create amazing illustrations inspired by the Japanese culture. We’re going to base ourselves on the Japanese mythology, so we’ll need to look for references and inspiration in order to develop our design. Although we’ll be focusing on the traditional oriental printings, we’ll try to give our illustration a modern aspect in order to apply it to any format or medium.
We’re going to draw an illustration based on the Japanese art, taking as a reference the traditional woodblock printings as well as other elements very common within the Asian culture. In my case, I’ll focus on the Oni, a kind of supernatural ogre in Japanese folklore. You can choose any other topic, though.
What you’ll learn:
This course is for people with a thorough knowledge of illustration and an intermediate level in Photoshop and Illustrator. Of course, willingness to learn is a must!

Carlota MPB, MONKEYBARK, illustrator. A fan of Disney Studios and Cartoon Network, she studied illustration for two years at the San Telmo School of Art in Málaga, Spain. Before that, she started to learn how to draw of her own accord to try and follow her childhood dream of becoming an artist and specializing in character design. Although, she delves into other areas too, like concept art and animation, having recently collaborated in the latest video clip of the Spanish singer El Kanka.
