Costumes not only cover your characters, they're also a powerful story telling tool!

About this course

On this course we'll learn about the fundamentals of costume design and how to sketch costumes for characters from the Snow White Universe. I want to focus on image and fashion research, the difference between costume design and fashion design, as well as the techniques and process for creating costume variations for different characters.

Learn about how to find inspiration from real life fashions and costumes and apply them to your own designs. Learn how to work with color and how to create iconic elements to your costume that tells a story about who your character is. Learn how to research costumes from different cultures and respectfully adapt them to your own designs.

What project are we going to develop?

On this course we'll create several different kinds of costumes for the Dwarf, Queen and Snow White characters, using image references to help inspire you.

You'll learn: how to research images for your costume design, how to get inspired by your image references and apply them to your own designs, the technique and process for creating different kinds of costumes for each character and how to work with color on your costume designs.

Who’s this course for?

 This course is for intermediate-level Photoshop users that have a good knowledge of the tools and functions.

Sarita Kolhatkar is a concept artist and illustrator that has worked with such game studios as ArenaNet and Imaginary Games and with companies like Lufthansa Airlines, Mars Chocolates and many others. She has a BFA in Animation and Illustration, and over 4 years experience in the game industry. Her game experience also includes triple-A titles like Guild Wars 2 and mobile games like Afterland and Spooky Treats. She loves creating imaginative characters and environments and shares her knowledge and techniques through tutorials.
