About this course

Learn all about Character fundamentals and understanding shape language in Adobe Photoshop. Different shapes communicate different emotions. Rounded shapes tend to be safe, square shapes are strong and sturdy and angular shapes tend to feel more sinister.

We will also explore the process of creating silhouettes for our characters, which are inspired by the Snow White universe. Using the knowledge of shape languages, we will explore the process of designing characters like the Evil Queen, the Huntsman and one of the dwarves.

We will create a simple character line up that will show you the basics of how to do this. We should be capable of recognizing one design from the next easily. We will also explore the process of pushing our designs and adding anatomy within the silhouette in the method of values and form.

What project are we going to develop?

In this video course you will learn how to create a character lineup inspired by the Snow White universe, and the basic technique for creating silhouettes using just the brush tool in Photoshop.

In this class you'll learn

Character Design Fundamentals: Form, Perspective, Anatomy and composition. Shape languages, how to use layers, how to paint with the brush tool, how to paint silhouettes.
