How to create a Foodtruck in Adobe Photoshop
References and sketching
Search for web references to make your sketch.
You need to think about the concept of your design, in this case Mexican food.
Based on your reference you can begin sketching. Then, choose the sketch you liked the best.
Now the sketch is ready, it's time to paint!
Painting the sketch
A solid color will be the starting point to generate the color palette.
With the layers arranged, apply the colors you'll use on the design.
In this step it's important to establish the direction of the light.
Set the brush properties and begin painting.
Feel free to play around while you're painting; add little touches of texture and volume, without being too bold.
The next step is the volume. Make sure the shading reflects the material; this will give the design a more realistic appearance.
We can paint in more details that add to the design to, for example: the stickers or elements of the van .
All the little details make your design looks more realistic. You could also try out alternative color schemes.
For your color scheme don’t be boring or make alternative color schemes with the same hues. Experiment with your colors!
Adjustments, details and blending modes
So far the illustration has lots of details, however it's time to apply some lighting effects. Put your favorite song on!
Add a photo filter to give some warmth to the composition.
Play around with the layers fusion mode; for example, overlay or color dodge will highlight the focal points and add depth.
Always revise your design with a critical eye. Maybe there are some more details that could be added.
Add lights with the layer on color dodge mode. Be subtle and careful not to overpower the other objects.
With fusion mode the lights could be reflected on the ground, also add the water.
Tip: You can download rain brushes to create the nocturnal vibe.
Create a layer with outer glow effect and add another with overlay effect this will create a glow. But don't overdo it, the more subtle the better.
It's ready! A Fast Food Wagon in 20 steps!
